What can we help you with?

The neurosurgeon is specifically concerned with:

  • operations of brain tumors
  • cerebral hemorrhages
  • brain injuries after for example accidents
  • herniated discs in the neck and back
  • fusion surgery
  • disc prosthesis surgery at the level of the vertebral column
  • nerve surgery
  • treatment of chronic pain by infiltrations
  • neurostimulation
  • trigeminal neuralgia

Most of these neurosurgical procedures are performed microsurgically.

Minimally invasive surgery

The basic philosophy is to perform neurosurgical procedures with a microsurgical and minimally invasive surgical technique. The advantage of minimally invasive surgery is the fact that the surgical trauma to the patient associated with the operative access is minimal. Thus, the maximum operative outcome can be achieved and recovery is generally very smooth. If necessary, high quality implants are also used.

Doctors

The neurosurgeons are fully associated and form one close group. In addition to Sint-Trudo Hospital they also work at two other hospitals: Jessa (Hasselt) and Sint-Franciscus Hospital (Heusden-Zolder).
The neurosurgery department at Sint-Trudo Hospital has been operational since 2000.
