Pain clinic

At the pain clinic, you can receive interventional and medicinal pain therapies (infiltrations, radiofrequency treatments, etc.) for the treatment of both acute and chronic pain.

What is pain?

Pain is a very personal experience. With the right medication, pain can usually be suppressed. Therefore ... if you have pain, say so!

Why fight pain?

  • less risk of complications
  • earlier discharge from the hospital
  • faster recovery and rehabilitation
  • greater satisfaction with hospital stay
  • untreated acute pain can become chronic

Pain is unfortunately a well-known phenomenon for many. Because pain can have many causes and is often complex, it is approached from different angles. If necessary, a specialist from another discipline is called in.

Measuring pain

Good pain management is customized. Therefore, it is important to correctly evaluate the nature and severity of your pain. This allows us, in consultation with your treating physician, to treat your pain in the best way. It is also very important that you correctly communicate which and how much pain medication you use at home.

How is pain treated?

There are several ways to treat pain:

  • medicated/drug treatments: pill, drip, infusion, pain pump with push button, adhesive patches, infiltration (this is an injection between the vertebrae by the doctor) ...
  • non-medicated treatments: education and information, rest and relaxation, improving comfort and posture, massage, ice pack, heat ... Some pain treatments may have side effects, such as nausea, vomiting, itching, drowsiness, dizziness. Most of these side effects are harmless and can be easily remedied.
