Reconstructive surgery (restorative)
Reconstructive surgery aims to correct abnormal structures of the body due to developmental disorders, congenital defects, accidents, infections, tumors or other disease symptoms. Usually these procedures are performed to improve functions or to approach a normal appearance as closely as possible. An example is breast reconstruction after an amputation.
Aesthetic surgery (cosmetic)
Esthetic surgery is performed to restore forms but also functions of a particular body part.
