The department of vascular surgery is responsible for all peripheral vascular problems except at the level of the brain and heart. This means disorders of the veins (deoxygenated) and arteries (oxygenated).
- cervical arteries (carotid and vertebralis)
- artery of abdomen and chest (abdominal and thoracic aorta)
- hollow vein of the abdomen (vena cava)
- renal and intestinal arteries
- blood vessels of the arms and legs
In addition, disorders of the lymphatics are also treated.
Examination and treatment
Making a diagnosis and appropriate treatment is the main focus.
After a refined diagnosis and often after performing further imaging (angioCT, MR angiography or classical intra-arterial digital subtraction angiography), treatment may consist of:
