Vertebroplasty
Vertebroplasty is a treatment for indentation fractures in which cement is applied to the indented vertebral body through one or two small incisions.
For whom?
This treatment is specifically for indentation fractures due to osteoporosis.
Intervention
X-rays are used to image the level to be treated. A small incision is made along both sides of the vertebra. Via this route, a tube is inserted into the posterior vertebral arch, which is pushed through to the front of the vertebral body. Along this tube, cement is injected under continuous radiographic guidance. In this way, a leakage of cement can be detected and further leakage can be prevented.
