If you have any questions about your home situation after surgery, you can, if you wish, contact our hospital's social service at 011 69 91 40 (available every weekday during office hours).

You 'll be allowed to go home after permission from the surgeon and/or anesthesiologist. You will be given guidelines for your continued treatment at home.

  • identity card
  • documents for hospitalization insurance (e.g.. Medicard ...)
  • any medication that you normally take at home/medication list
  • comfortable clothing
  • a book or magazine for some distraction
  • You go to the hospital at the agreed time. You will be registered at the reception. After registration you can go to the hyperambulatory day hospital.
  • Scan your ticket before you take your seat in the waiting room. After your number appears, the nurse will come to get you and guide you to the changing room.
  • In the changing room a surgical shirt will be provided. You can keep your underwear (underpants, pants, skirt, stockings, shoes, etc.) on. You must take off the outer clothing and wear the surgical shirt instead. You can leave your clothes and valuables in a locked cupboard.
  • For reasons of hygiene, the nurse will also provide you with shoe covers and a surgical cap in the patient room.
  • Once you have changed and arrived in the patient room, you may take a seat in one of the numbered lounge chairs. Here the nurse will ask you some preliminary questions. Then the nurse will guide you to the treatment room.
  • After the procedure, you 'll stay for a while in one of the lounge seats in the special recovery lounge. How long you will stay there is difficult to estimate in advance and depends on the nature of the procedure and the type of anesthesia administered.
  • Once in recovery, you will be given more information about the further course of the procedure. You will also be given the necessary documents to take home.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to speak to our team.

Important to know before your visit the hyperambulatory day hospital:

  • You 'll come to the hospital for some procedures sober. Your doctor will discuss this with you during the consultation. This means that you must not eat or drink anything, including water, from the evening before the procedure (from midnight). Brushing your teeth is allowed, smoking is not.
  • You 'll pay attention to body hygiene: take a bath or shower the morning of the operation.
  • You 'll arrive on time. If this is not possible, we may be forced to postpone your procedure. So be sure to keep traffic in mind.
  • Some procedures require you to remove your makeup, nail polish, gel nails, hairpins, lenses and piercings. Your doctor will discuss this with you during the consultation.
  • Morning medication should be taken in consultation with your attending doctor or anesthesiologist.

If you are sick or have a fever in the morning, notify the hyperambulatory day hospital as soon as possible. To arrange a new date, please contact the secretariat of your treating doctor.

Aphasia does not only affect the person himself. It is also quite an adjustment for the immediate environment. It is important to go through the process together and to find a new way to communicate. The following tips can help you on your way:

  • Take your time, speak slowly and support your words with gestures.
  • Do not muddle through.
  • Avoid elaborate descriptions and long sentences.
  • Don't constantly try to correct language. Don't pretend you understood when you didn't.
  • Use simple yes/no questions and don't force a conversation.
