Overview latest audits

Every 5 years, the operation of a hospital is evaluated by the Flemish Healthcare Inspection. Based on the results of this audit, the hospital may or may not receive a renewal of its accreditation.

During the audit, the auditors check whether the hospital pursues an effective quality and patient safety policy and whether it meets all legal standards. With their audit, they also want to contribute to the continuous improvement of the quality of care in Flanders. Therefore, the focus is also on exposing weaknesses and providing points for improvement.

The focus of the inspection model is on compliance monitoring. Specifically, the quality of care will be tested at the workplace. This is done at three levels: structure, processes and results. Every Flemish hospital is expected to comply with the framework of requirements drawn up for the renewed inspection model.
