Patient satisfaction

Patient experiences and ratings are an important signal and give us valuable feedback on the quality of care and its organization. We regularly gauge the experiences of our patients. This is done on the basis of a series of statements regarding experiences about the entire hospital stay: admission, emergency, operating room, medical, nursing and paramedical care, hotel event, etc.

Since 2015, our hospital has participated in the 'patient experiences' indicator of the Flemish Indicators Platform (VIP2). This is a satisfaction survey that uses 27 questions to gauge how patients experienced care during their hospital stay. The questions include preparation for admission and discharge, information provision, friendliness, privacy, pain treatment and control and safety). The results are published on the following web page: https://zorgkwaliteit.be/zorgvoorzieningen/sint-trudo-ziekenhuis-sint-truiden.

In addition to general patient satisfaction, some services, because of the specific operation of their service, organize their own satisfaction survey. For example, the Emergency Department surveys patient satisfaction among ambulatory emergency patients and compares the results with those of 10 other hospitals.

A patient survey is only useful if something is actually done with the results. Therefore, the hospital has ongoing improvement projects to address these work issues.
